What is your role with The Center and what are you most excited about?

I am one of the Regional Literacy Specialists for Region 8.  I am excited about building relationships with my Literacy Coaches and working alongside them to align instructional practices with the Science of Reading.

What is your background?

I am a Certified Reading Specialist with a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in Curriculum and Instruction.  This is year seventeen for me in the field of education. When I was a teacher, I taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grade.

What is your favorite childhood book or literacy memory?

My favorite books were the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary.  I loved reading about how Ramona wore her pajamas to school under her clothes because she loved them so much.  As a child, I was never to be found without a book.  As an adult, this still holds true.

Flashback to when you were 10 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was ten, I wanted to be either a teacher or a nurse.  When I entered college, I was still debating between the two.  I found my passion in the field of education.
