Juan Guevara Pinto
What is your role with The Center and what are you most excited about?
I am the Research and Evaluation Associate at the Center, and I am responsible for helping analyze data and evaluate many of The Center’s programs (particularly the SFEC). I am truly excited about being able to learn how a nonprofit with such a great mission operates in order to be able to positively impact our community.
What is your background?
I was born and raised in Honduras, and came to the U.S. when I was 18 years old. I got my PhD in Cognitive and Brain Sciences from LSU in 2020 and became a college professor for a few years prior to joining The Center last month.
What is your favorite childhood book or literacy memory?
My favorite childhood book was “The Little Prince” (by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry). I used to read it with mom all the time (in Spanish).
Flashback to when you were 10 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a policeman when I was 10 years old.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
If I could be anywhere, I would probably want to be back home in Honduras with my two kids visiting the rest of my family.
