Ashlynn Rome
What is your role with The Center and what are you most excited about?
I am a Policy & Communications Specialist for The Center. I am most excited for the next legislative session so that we can continue to advocate for policies that will brighten the futures of the children of Louisiana!
What is your background?
I grew up in Zachary, Louisiana, and graduated from Zachary High School.
In high school, I volunteered at elementary schools around my city to read to different classes and help any children having trouble reading. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for ensuring each and every child receives the best education possible.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Communications from Louisiana State University. Before accepting my current position at The Center, I was a legislative intern during my freshman year of college.
What is your favorite childhood book or literacy memory?
My favorite book as a young child was The Rainbow Fish, but as I got older I loved the Percy Jackson series!
Flashback to when you were 10 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was 10 I actually wanted to be in the FBI and that did not change until I was 16!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
If I could be anywhere in the world right now I would probably be in Rome. I definitely plan to go at least once in my life since it’s my last name!
