What is your role with The Center and what are you most excited about?
My role with The Center is Vice President of Advancement. I am most excited to secure resources that advance our mission and our vision to empower everyone through literacy!
What is your background?
I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and my Masters’s in Business Administration from Southern University and A&M College. Before accepting my position with The Center I worked as the Director of Development for the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana also known as PAR. Before that, I was the Director of Development at Southern University Laboratory School/Ancillary staff for the Southern University System Foundation.
I am currently a member of the Louisiana Air National Guard in which I currently have 12 years of service. In the military, I work as the Unit Career Advisor. During natural disasters, I work in the military support branch at the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
In my spare time, I volunteer with the Junior League of Baton Rouge and I am the Hollydays Special Events Co-Chair. I serve on the YMCA – Dow Westside Board of Directors. I am also a member of the PTO.
I have two daughters and have been married for 7 years.
What is your favorite childhood book or literacy memory?
I was a big fan of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys mystery books as a child.
Flashback to when you were 10 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Forensic Scientist
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Groningen. A small city that I fell in love with in the northern Netherlands.
What passion projects do you have outside of work?
I love to craft and curate special moments for my children. I recently finished re-modeling their playhouse.
