Right from Birth Parenting Initiative

Building your Child’s Foundation for Life
The Right from Birth Parenting Initiative (RfB Initiative) is based on the book Right from Birth: Building Your Child’s Foundation for Life by Craig Ramey and Sharon Ramey. The Rameys built their book on compelling scientific evidence from over 1,000 research studies that show what works and what counts in raising capable, confident, caring and accomplished children – right from birth.
The RfB Initiative addresses how learning, social interactions, emotional development and communication interact and depend upon each other, providing parents with research-based strategies in a user-friendly language.
The goal of the Right from Birth parenting Initiative is to ensure children will enter kindergarten ready and eager to learn.
“We consider CDL to be the official “trainer of trainers” for the Right from Birth Parenting Series and the Going to School Parenting Series. CDL brings extensive experience and depth preparing teachers, parents and other professionals to deliver rich, effective teaching and training.“

A Kindergarten Readiness Program
The RfB Initiative provides targeted instruction to childcare providers, expectant parents, parents and/or primary caregivers of children age birth to three years. Using techniques discussed in the Right from Birth book, our program provides these educators and parents with the tools they need to ensure their child’s success leading up to their first years of school.
Program Objectives & Outcomes
Through our RfB Initiative, parents and childcare providers will build their capacity to help children succeed. The program is designed to increase childcare providers’ knowledge of the social, emotional, and cognitive development of their children from birth through three years of age. Participants will also learn how to provide children in their care with social, emotional, and cognitive experiences that can help foster optimal development in preparation for their entry into kindergarten.
After completion of this program, childcare providers and parents will have gained the knowledge and skills to promote their children’s social, emotional, and intellectual growth, allowing them to enter kindergarten better prepared socially, emotionally, and academically. The parents’ involvement in their children’s education will have increased, and the gap between high and low achievers will have been reduced.
