On the blog this week we’re going to peek behind the scenes of the inner workings of our Early Childhood Coaching program.
At the heart of our coaching program lies the Practice-Based Coaching Model, a powerful framework that empowers teachers and educators to employ effective teaching practices. By fostering a collaborative environment, this model sets the stage for positive outcomes that directly impact the children in our care. Let’s explore the three main coaching components that make up the backbone of our approach.
- Setting Goals and Action Steps:
We kick off our coaching journey by working hand-in-hand with educators to identify areas for improvement using the renowned CLASS observation tool. Through collaborative meetings, we craft tailored goals and targeted strategies, ensuring they are not just aspirations but actionable steps toward improvement. Our aim is to provide individualized support, ultimately enhancing student outcomes and promoting best practices within the classroom.
- Engaging in Focused Observations:
Picture this: educators and specialists teaming up for focused observations that go beyond the surface. Whether face-to-face or in the virtual realm, our Early Childhood Literacy & Learning Specialists are there to keenly observe instructional practices, teacher-child interactions, and data collection. This detailed approach allows us to offer targeted feedback, celebrating strengths and pinpointing areas for growth.
- Reflecting and Sharing Feedback about Teaching Practices:
After the observation journey, we gather for reflective sessions. These discussions are more than just a review; they’re a collaborative exploration of successes and challenges. By creating a space for open dialogue, our specialists and educators share insights, celebrate victories, and offer constructive feedback. This reflective process is key to fostering a continuous cycle of improvement.

Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the coaching components mentioned. We provide on-site and virtual support, including Communities of Practice, Tier 1 Curriculum Support, Customized Professional Developments, and Science of Reading and Early Literacy Training. These offerings contribute to a holistic approach aimed at equipping educators with the knowledge and skills necessary for ensuring that every child enters kindergarten ready for success.
In the ever-changing landscape of early childhood education, we aim to provide support and growth for all of the teachers and educators we partner with to produce the best education for our communities’ students. By implementing the Practice-Based Coaching Model and its integral components, we are not just coaching educators—we are shaping a future where every child has the foundation needed to thrive in their educational journey. The Center’s Early Childhood Coaches are committed to customizing a program to fit the unique needs for each school, educator, professional or parents that we partner with.
